The President’s Star Charity (PSC) is back for its 17th year running, with the theme this year being ‘Just Like You’. The aim is simple – to rally the community to do their part in breaking down the illusionary boundaries present between them and the less fortunate.
Hosted by news presenter Glenda Chong and TV actor Chua Enlai, the two-hour President’s Star Charity show will feature a myriad of heart-wrenching and spell-bounding performances; including a headline act from internationally acclaimed Broadway musical, Wicked.
Closer to home, audiences can look forward to catching their favourite regional and local celebrities chip in to garner donations for the 58 beneficiaries under the President’s Challenge 2016.
This year’s stars include Chyi Yu, the Taiwanese singer best known for her 1979 hit, “The Olive Tree”, the critically acclaimed Singapore Mandopop singer-songwriter, Tanya Chua who gained popular success mainly in Taiwan and garnered four titles at Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards and home-grown singing talents Taufik Batisah and Sezairi Sezali.
To top it all off, this year’s show also features segments involving both kids and the youths – the aim being, to raise awareness and encourage the latter to be more involved in charity.
Catch the President’s Star Charity 2016 ‘Live’ on Sunday, 23 October 2016, on Channel 5, 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The show will also simulcast on Toggle – Mediacorp’s over-the-top service.
