The 21st Asian Television Awards concluded yesterday (2 December) at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. Hosted by Adrian Pang, Stephanie Carrington, Alden Richards, Baki Zainal and Fiona Su, the awards ceremony was nothing short of exciting and nerve-wrecking especially for the nominees.
Before the awards presentation, the ceremonial red carpet sees stars and idols strut their stuff donning extravagant outfits and gowns.
A total of 18 awards were given out on the “live” show, including the six most anticipated – “Best Actor in a Leading Role”, “Best Actress in a Leading Role”, “Best Actor inn a Supporting Role”, “Best Actress in a Supporting Role”, “Best Comedy Performance by an Actor/Actress” and “Best Drama Series”.
What’s an awards show without some jaw-dropping performances? First up on stage was Charli XCX, performing her breakout single “Boom Clap” followed by her latest release “After The After Party”. Up next was Indonesian diva Rossa delivering an amazing performance of “Jangan Hilangkan Dia” and the audience-voted “Ku Menunggu”. Ivy Grace Paredes – exemplary contestant on The X Factor UK, belted out high notes with her powerful vocals with a cover of Sia’s “Chandelier” to the delight and cheers from the audience.
Amber followed with a dance performance of her debut single “Shake That Brass” and a vocal performance of her English release “Borders”. K-Pop fans in the hall welcomed her on stage with roaring cheers and applause, not forgetting to sing along while she performed. Last and definitely not least, the most anticipated performance of the night – JJ Lin kicked off his stage with “可惜沒如果 (If Only)” and ended the performance line-up with “不为谁而做的歌 (Twilight)”.
