We interviewed Singapore based actor, Jeff Catz, on his recent win at the Asian Television Awards last year on 2 December 2016. He won the “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” award for the Suria drama Bunga Tanjong. Here’s what he had to say.
1. How has life been since winning at the Asian Television Awards?
Jeff Catz: To be recognised for my acting and to be crowned as a winner in Asia is a great achievement, which I will cherish for the rest of my life.. Life has been very kind to me since I won the award.. I get more recognition for my work and recently I just got offered as main supporting role in Kuala Lumpur for a blockbuster movie which will start shooting in June.
2. Who were the people you first thought of sharing the news of your win with? Why?
Jeff Catz: My Family for sure.. They have been my foundation and are also my supporters ever since I started acting..
3. Going back to 2 December 2016, what was going through your mind when your name was announced?
Jeff Catz: I never thought I had a chance to win.. For me being nominated is already an achievement and winning is a bonus.. So when my name was announced, I was literally in seventh heaven! The first thing I said to myself was “Please don’t forget the producers’ and directors’ names!”
4. Will we see you back on 1 December 2017 for the 22nd Asian Television Awards?
Jeff Catz: I would love to be back as a nominee, but that’s beyond my control… It is up to Suria if they want to send in entries for the award.. But i would love to be invited as one of the award presenters, if I am not nominated.
