From tomorrow onwards (Thursday, 18 May), fans will be able to catch the latest episodes of MBC’s new drama The Emperor: Owner of the Mask on Viu earlier than before, from as fast as 4 hours after Korea’s telecast instead of the current 12 hours. Since its premiere, the historical drama has ranked No. 1 in its time slot in Korea, with the third and fourth episodes raking in 10.5 per cent and 12.6 per cent in viewer ratings respectively.
Not only is Viu bringing Korea’s hottest dramas to local viewers faster, it is also bringing subtitles quicker to meet viewers’ demands. This is also the first time Viu is offering fast track subtitling for period dramas, no mean feat as it requires more research to ensure accurate translation.
Other popular dramas that fans can look forward to catching earlier include the new romantic comedy Fight for My Way. Starring Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won, it will also be available 4 hours after Korea when it premieres on Viu on 23 May, while the pre-produced period drama adaptation of Korean movie blockbuster My Sassy Girl can be viewed on Viu right after Korea’s telecast on the same day when it lands on the OTT platform starting from 29 May.
In addition, two weekend dramas, “The Good Thieves” and “Duel” will be added in coming weeks.
