CJ E&M to launch tvN Movies on Viu
The channel has First & Exclusive Pay TV Rights in Southeast Asia for Top Grossing Korean films.

Korea’s leading media & entertainment conglomerate, CJ E&M, which launched tvN Movies in Southeast Asia at the beginning of 2017, will be available on Viu by late August in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia and eventually in two other Southeast Asian markets. The expansion with Viu helps tvN Movies in delivering Korean mega hits from the big screens straight to mobile screens and enables paid users to enjoy the flexibility and convenience of streaming movies from mobile through the Viu app.

The channel understands audiences’ urges for exclusivity and timeliness, hence, tvN Movies has garnered First & Exclusive Pay TV Rights in Southeast Asia for an impressive number of Top Grossing Korean films in 2017, including action movie Confidential Assignment (Hyun Bin, Yoo Hae-jin), crime action films The Prison (Han Suk-kyu, Kim Rae-won) and Fabricated City (Ji Chang-wook, Shim Eun-kyung), specific territories apply, the 3 titles have grossed box office sales of nearly US$94 million in total in South Korea. More blockbusters will be available in the first quarter of 2018 on tvN Movies, including war epic The Battleship Island (Hwang Jung-min, So Ji-sub, Song Joong-ki) and action comedy, Midnight Runners (Kang Ha-neul, Park Seo-joon).
