Genius Brands International appoints Mark Shoeman as new director of distribution
Shoeman will handle global sales of genius brands’ library of children’s programming as well as content acquisitions and distribution for digital platforms -- kid genius cartoon channel and baby genius channel.

Genius Brands International, the global content and brand management company dedicated to providing entertaining and enriching ‘content with a purpose’ for toddlers to tweens, is expanding its global content distribution operation with the appointment of the new Director of Distribution, Mark Shoeman.
As Genius Brands new Director of Distribution, Shoeman will be responsible for sales of the Genius Brands’ programming library, including the new CGI-animated series, Rainbow Rangers slated to premiere this fall on the #1 rated kids’ network, Nickelodeon’s Nick Jr. in the U.S.; the popular Netflix preschool series Llama Llama, starring Jennifer Garner; tween music-driven YouTube brand SpacePOP; award-winning toddler brand Baby Genius; adventure comedy series Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab, and Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaires Club, created with and starring iconic investor Warren Buffett.
In addition to his distribution responsibilities, Shoeman will also identify appropriate content for acquisition for both the Kid Genius Cartoon Channel and Baby Genius channel—the Company’s growing digital platforms, which reach millions of homes across the U.S. through Xfinity On Demand and other OTT platforms. He will also work with Pierson to continue to expand the distribution of the channels.
Shoeman joins Genius Brands International from DHX Media, where he served as Territory Manager for the U.S. since 2012, managing the sale of approximately 13,000 half-hours of children’s entertainment programming. From 2008 through 2012, Shoeman held the post of Sales Manager for the U.S. and Asia Pacific markets for Cookie Jar Entertainment (formerly DIC Entertainment). He launched his career in 2002 at DIC Entertainment, the company formed by Genius Brands’s Chairman & CEO Andy Heyward, working as a product development coordinator in DIC’s Consumer Products/Home Entertainment division. A graduate of Shippensburg University, Shoeman received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and composition with a minor in anthropology, before earning a master’s degree in film and television production from the University of Southern California in 2005.
