Indonesian sensation Anggun to perform at the first LIVE Asian Television Awards 2015.
Singapore, 1 October – The 20th Asian Television Awards 2015 is expected to be another astounding celebration this year as Asia’s finest talents will be recognised for their excellence in the Television industry. The Asian equivalent to the Emmy Award will see a special appearance by Indonesian rock icon Anggun. The United Nations’ Goodwill Ambassador, World Music Award winner and Asia’s best-selling recording artiste outside Asia is pleased to grace the ceremony.
“It’s a great honour to be one of the invited guests at the Asian Television Awards this year and it will be a privilege to perform in front of Asia’s best television personalities and celebrities which will be broadcast across many nations,” said Anggun. “The 20th edition celebration marks a truly significant achievement for television in Asia and the Awards’ success in honouring individuals who have made a difference. I look forward to the show and meeting the industry movers and shakers in the region,” she added.
The Indonesian singer will be making her debut appearance at Asian Television Awards’ 20th edition, slated to take place at the state-of-the-art auditorium at Suntec City, Singapore. The multiple award-winning vocalist will perform at the LIVE show telecast on the second day of the Awards, an event which will be open to the public for the first time. Held in conjunction with the Singapore Media Festival, the glamorous event will also feature a slew of talented international and regional artistes, as well as industry key professionals in the Television and Broadcast sector.
Her special appearance signifies a vital part of her return to Asia. A path which led her away, full circle, and back to Asia after a journey to self discovery and pursue for a higher calling in her career. In 2014, she accepted the invite to co-judge the Indonesian version of America’s Got Talent. Early this year, she was invited back as judge alongside David Foster, Melanie C (Spice Girls) and Vanness Wu (F4) to the debut season of Asia’s Got Talent.
Anggun was named ‘Lady Rock’ by fans and critics since she shot to fame as an Indonesian superstar in the early 90s. Her pursue for an international career, saw her move towards unchartered waters; pursue her dreams in London and Paris, a decision which greatly changed the course of her life forever. The journey saw the release of her first international album ‘Snow on the Sahara’ in 1997 with Sony Music Entertainment. The song became an international uproar; it was released in 33 countries worldwide, peaked the Top 20 Billboard Heatseekers Charts and Top 15 in the US Club Charts. She has collaborated with many international artistes, including Julio Iglesias, Celine Dion, Peter Gabriel, Pras Michel of the Fugees, and many more.
